The DWI Partners in Prevention Conference is intended to provide the latest information on the implementation of New York’s new impaired driving laws and the effects of these measures on the various components of the state’s system that deal with impaired driving offenders. The conference sessions are designed to follow an impaired driver through the system from the initial traffic stop through arraignment, adjudication, participation in the Drinking Driver Program, treatment, probation, and the licensing system. The focus will be on the interactions with the impaired driver that occur at each step of the process, including the sanctions and procedures for drivers charged with the new violation of Aggravated DWI.

An important objective of the conference is to provide valuable information that will promote understanding and cooperation among the partners who are responsible for the various components of the system and share the goal of preventing impaired driving. Time will be allocated for questions and answers during each session. A special session on technology related to impaired driving will also be presented and vendors will be in attendance to exhibit various equipment and new technologies. Opportunities to network and to visit the exhibits will be available during breaks, meals and at the reception on November 8.

Continuing Education credits are being considered for the various professions including attorneys, counselors and probation officers. |

LODGING UPDATE
While the Marriott still has rooms available at the special DWI Conference rate for November 8th, we had a smaller block of rooms for November 7th which has sold out. As a substitute we have procured rooms at the Hampton Inn Albany-Wolf Rd (Airport). They will honor the government per diem rate for the nights of November 7 and 8.
