The New York Highway Safety Symposium is organized through the joint sponsorship of
the New York State STOP-DWI Association, Inc., the New York State Association of Traffic Safety Boards, and the New York State Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, along with partners in safety- New York State Drinking Driver Program Directors, New York State Department of Health, New York State Police, New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, New York State Department of Transportation, National Safety Council, Safe Kids, NHTSA, and other partners
interested in the promotion of safety and injury prevention.
The New York Highway Safety Symposium attracts more than 350 professionals from local, state, federal and private agencies who are involved in the effort to reduce deaths and injuries related to traffic crashes. These professionals attend the symposium to exchange information on current activities and new developments on the
promotion of injury prevention programs. Such past topics have
included STOP-DWI activities dealing with prevention, enforcement, prosecution, treatment, education and probation. Injury prevention presentations have included enforcement, education, aggressive driving, child passenger safety, bicycle and pedestrian safety, as well as numerous presentations on related injury prevention programming. Speakers have presented on programs, grants, legislative issues, data and statistics, as well as
effective local, state, and federal initiatives.
