The Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research (ITSMR) is a not-for-profit, university-based research center dedicated to improving highway safety.
History
Affiliated with the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, the Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research (ITSMR) was established in 1978 to provide a link between the State University of New York and New York State government that would facilitate the application of academic expertise to the mitigation and solution of traffic safety problems. From its inception, ITSMR has played a key role in New York becoming a national leader in developing legislative and programmatic countermeasures for major highway safety issues.
